The India Business Club and Dean’s Office present an evening with Mr. B. Muthuraman, Chairman of Tata International and Vice Chairman of Tata Steel. Hear Mr. Muthuraman share perspectives with Prof. David Besanko on key issues shaping emerging market economies and defining their social, political, and economic trajectories.
B Muthuraman is Vice Chairman of Tata Steel and Chairman of Tata International.
He serves on the boards of Bosch, Tata Industries and Strategic Energy Technology Systems. He is also president of the Confederation of Indian Industry, chairman of the board of governors of the National Institute of Technology (Jamshedpur), and a member of the Business Advisory Council of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
Mr Muthuraman has a bachelor’s degree in technology in metallurgical engineering from IIT Madras and a master’s degree in business administration from XLRI Jamshedpur. He also completed the advanced management programme at the European Centre for Executive Development, France, and the leadership programme at INSEAD, France. He has been bestowed with an honorary doctorate from Loyola University, Chicago.
David Besanko is the Alvin J. Huss Professor of Management and Strategy at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Before joining the Kellogg faculty in 1991, Professor Besanko was a member of the faculty of the School of Business at Indiana University from 1982 to 1991. In addition, in 1985, he held a post-doctorate position on the Economics Staff at Bell Communications Research.
He is a member of the editorial boards of The Journal of Regulatory Economics, Business and Politics and Quantitative Marketing and Economics. He has over 40 articles published and forthcoming in leading professional journals in economics and business. His latest textbook Intermediate Microeconomicswith Ron Braeutigam, was published in August 2001.
